Switching to Amazon by Codisto from Shopify's Amazon Channel

As a Shopify merchant with the Shopify Amazon Channel currently installed, you may have recently experienced technical issues with your sales channel and been advised by Shopify support to install Amazon by Codisto as an alternative solution and given early access to the product.

We’ve been working closely with Shopify to develop a dedicated Amazon sales channel that offers all the functionality and features of the Shopify Amazon Channel with additional automation and features for creating and managing Amazon listings and orders previously only available through our Codisto Channel Cloud app.

Transitioning to Amazon by Codisto

We’ve made the process of moving from the Shopify Amazon Channel to Amazon by Codisto simple by following these easy steps:

#1 Uninstall the Amazon Sales Channel from Shopify

  • From your Shopify admin, click Settings, and then click Sales channels.
  • Click the trash can beside the name of the sales channel that you want to remove.
  • Click to confirm.

Note: You don’t need to end or unlink any of your Amazon offers and listings on the Shopify Amazon Channel before uninstalling.

#2 Install the Amazon by Codisto sales channel and connect your Amazon account

You can install the Amazon by Codisto directly from the Shopify App Store with this link.

Once installed, open the Amazon by Codisto sales channel and click on “Connect to Amazon”.

Select the Amazon marketplace your Amazon Professional Sellers Account is registered to, and enter your account credentials to give Amazon by Codisto access to manage your Amazon account.

#3 Link your existing Amazon listings and offers

The Amazon listings and offers you were previously managing with the Shopify Amazon Channel will need to be linked to Amazon by Codisto.

Amazon by Codisto will use your product titles and SKU codes to automatically match your Amazon products to their corresponding products in Shopify. To review, edit and approve your matches, click on the “Amazon Seller SKU Match” link in the Amazon Setup Checklist.

You will be taken to the Settings View where you can review, edit and approve your matches.

If Amazon by Codisto has been able to automatically match your products on Amazon to your Shopify products, you can review and approve these “Ready to Link” or “Close Match” products to link them.

If you have offers or listings on Amazon that were unable to be matched by SKU codes (“No Match”), you can manually link these products by searching for them on your Shopify catalog.

Review your inventory settings

Once your listings have been linked, your inventory levels for your Amazon offers will be synced to your Shopify catalog, and any time a sale is made on Amazon or through your online store, your inventory levels for that product will be synced.

You can change the settings for inventory sync for individual products, filtered groups of products or across your entire catalog in bulk from the listings view.

Review Pricing and other offer field settings

Once your listings have been linked, your pricing and other offer field values for your products will be synced to their current values on Amazon.

After they have been synced, the values can only be changed from Amazon by Codisto. Any changes made to your products directly on Amazon will revert back to the values set in Amazon by Codisto.

You can change the settings for your pricing and other offer fields for individual products, filtered groups of products or across your entire catalog in bulk from the listings view.

Managing listing field values for your products

Once your listings have been linked, only your offer field values will be synced with Shopify by Amazon by Codisto. If you want to sync listing fields such as title, description and images, you will need to set the Listing Sync status to "Publish Listing Details" for any products you wish to sync listing details for using the Listings View.

You can do this for individual products from the Listing Details section in Single Edit Mode:

Or for groups of products in bulk using the Bulk Edit Mode:

#4 Review your Order Transfer Settings

Once your listings have been linked, you can navigate to the Settings View to review your Order Transfer settings and make any changes to the way Amazon by Codisto handles inbound Amazon orders.

The settings chosen will determine when Amazon by Codisto sends inbound Amazon orders into your Shopify orders flow.

Note: Sellers experiencing issues with the Shopify Amazon Channel with tracking data not being sent back to Amazon are advised that no such errors will occur with Amazon by Codisto. All orders fulfilled through Shopify WILL AUTOMATICALLY have the required shipping and tracking information sent to Amazon as per Amazon's requirements.

Tax Handling for Amazon Orders

Amazon by Codisto provides tax details on Amazon orders transferred to Shopify where it is the merchant's responsibility to remit the taxes. On some orders, there is no tax obligation for the merchant as Amazon has already met the tax obligations. By default, the order details sent to Shopify exclude the tax as there is no tax obligation on the merchant.

To learn more about managing tax for Amazon orders and how to change your default settings, please read this guide.
